Our Story
Initially orgranized in 1979, the Manitoba Recreational Canoeing Association (MRCA) was reestablished in 1988 with an objective to promote safe canoeing, provide standards for instruction, protect the interests of paddlers, and, maintain a resource centre.
As kayaking rose in popularity within the membership through the 1990s, the logo and programs were changed to refect this, but the name remained the same.
By 2003, it was clear that "Canoeing Association" did not encompass the true spirit of the organization. After a unanimous show of support from the members, the name was changed to Paddle Manitoba.
Today, Paddle Manitoba continues it's original objectives with a name and programs that truly represent all paddlers: canoe, kayak, or stand up paddleboard.
